This research aimed to survey local residents’ opinions towards the changing roles of the Local Administration Organization in Koh Kood District, Trat Province, and to use these opinions to make well-rounded recommendations to authorized decision makers for national reform. The mixed methods approach of quantitative and qualitative methods were used in this study. The qualitative portion of the research was an interview which made the research more reliable. The quantitative portion of the research was a survey. The sample group consisted of 289 registered voters in the district. The findings showed that the residents’ somewhat agreed with the changing roles of the Local Administration Organization. The recommendations gathered from the participants included: increase of penalties for corruption, promotion of participatory democracy aside from general elections and official recognition of the role of the Community Organization Council in organizing the village society.
