The Effect of Quality of Work Life and School Culture on the Commitment of Teachers and Educational Personnel in Catholic Schools under the Education Section of Chanthaburi Diocese
The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the quality of work life, school culture and the commitment of teachers and educational personnel in Catholic schools under the education section of Chanthaburi diocese, 2) to study the relation between the quality of work life and the commitment of these teachers and educational personnel, and the relation between school culture and the commitment of these teachers and educational personnel, and 3) to make a regression equation for how the quality of work life and culture affects the commitment of these teachers and educational personnel. The sample consisted of 309 teachers and educational personnel in academic year 2017. The sample size was determined by the Yamane Method and selected by Stratified Sampling. The research instrument was a five – rating scale questionnaire of 113 items with an IOC validity level of 0.66-1.00 and a discrimination level of 0.21-0.81. The questionnaire had a reliability level of 0.97. The descriptive statistics used were: percentage, mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D.), Pearson Product Moment Correlation (rxy), and Multiple Regression Analysis (Ry,1,2..k).
The results of the study were as follows: 1) The quality of work life was generally at the highest level, school culture was at the highest level and the commitment of teachers and educational personnel in Catholic schools under the education section of Chanthaburi diocese was at the highest level. 2) The relation between quality of work life and commitment of these teachers and educational personnel were positively and relatively correlated at the statistically significant level of .01, and the relation between school culture and commitment of these teachers and educational personnel were positively and relatively correlated at the statistically significant level of .01. 3) The regression equation for how the quality of work life and school culture affects the commitment of these teachers and educational personnel showed there was a multiple correlation co-efficient level of 0.84 for the following aspects: acceptance of sense of community (XS4), caring (XS8), integrity (XS9) and security and professional growth (XQ3). The results show a predictive power of 71 percent for the equation. There was a statistically significant relation at the .01 level which allows for the creation of a prediction equation of the regression equation as follows: raw score prediction equation result of = 0.37 0.35XS4 0.22XS8 0.24XS9 0.10XQ3; and standard scores prediction equation result of = 0.36XS4 0.25XS8 0.24XS9 0.12XQ3.
