The research purposes were to study and compare desirable competencies for teachers in basic schools under the Office of Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area, classified by gender, position, working experience and school size. The samples of this research were 333 school administrators and teachers in basic schools under the Office of Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area. The research instrument for data collection was a set of five - rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis included percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t - test and One - way analysis of variance.
The research findings revealed that 1) The overall desirable competencies for teachers in basic schools under the Office of Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area were ranked as the high level. 2) The comparison of overall desirable competencies for teachers in basic schools under the Office of Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area, classified by gender, position and school size, was different at .01 significant level statistically. 3) There was no significant difference statistically when comparing the overall desirable competencies for teachers in basic schools under the Office of Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area, classified by working experience.
