The major purposes of this research study were 1) to compare English learning achievement in studying English vocabulary words by game and Flashcard techniques of the fifth graders. The sample used in this study consisted of 36 pupils in Class 1 who study English vocabulary words by games, and another 37 pupils in Class 2 who study English vocabulary words by Flashcards. Both of the sample groups studied in the fifth grade during Semester 1 of Academic Year 2012 at Ban Kaew School, located in Muang District in Chanthaburi. They were selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments were 1) the 8 lesson plans which were divided into 4 lesson plans for teaching by games and another 4 lesson plans for teaching by flashcards. 2) the 40 item pretest and posttest used to examine both groups of students and 3) the 40 item retention test. The statistics employed for research analysis were mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
