This research was conducted to study local residents’ attitude toward the image of police officers in Muang District, Chanthaburi and to solicit recommendations for improvement. The researcher employed the mixed methods approach of quantitative and qualitative research. The sample group of 398 qualified voters were both surveyed for the quantitative portion of the research and interviewed for the qualitative portion.
The results revealed that the aspects of obligation and job duty ranked at the good level, law enforcement ranked at the fairly good level, and role in public service ranked at the good level. Recommendations solicited for the improvement of the image of police officers included: establishment of a local police force, prohibition of police officers from investing in entertainment businesses and not getting involved with immigrant workers.
