Teachers and educational personnel who are perfectly fulfilled with fringe benefits and good working conditions tend to engage in their schools. They devote all of their capabilities to assigned duties so as to develop the desirable learners. This research aimed to investigate and compare the commitment of teachers and educational personnel toward public schools under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office classified by marital status, working experience, birthplace, job position and school size. The sample size in this research was a group of 337 teachers and educational personnel under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, resulting from Krejcie and Morgan’s comparison table and proportional stratified random sampling method. The instrument for data collection was a five-rating scale constructed questionnaire about the commitment of teachers and educational personnel toward their public schools under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office with the discrimination power between 0.43 and 0.94, attached to its reliability of 0.98. The statistics used in analyzing quantitative data were: percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance.
The results of the research were as follows: 1) the commitment of teachers and educational personnel toward public schools under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office in overall and specific aspects was shown at a high level, 2) the comparison of the commitment of teachers and educational personnel toward public schools under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, when classified by working experience, birthplace, job position and school size, overall was statistically different at the .05 significance level. When classified by marital status, it overall had no statistically significant difference. The school administrator and concerned educational organizations can adopt this research as a guideline to encourage the commitment of teachers and educational personnel through participative management strategy, best practices of school administrators, as well as job incentive provisions leading to the sustainable development of public schools.
