Comparison of the Math Problem Solving Skills and the Learning Achievement in Ratios, Proportions and Percentages for Secondary 1 Students between Guided Inquiry-based Learning and Normal Learning
The purposes of this research were to: 1) compare the math problem solving skills for secondary 1 students learning by guided inquiry-based learning between pre-learning and post-learning; 2) compare the math learning achievement for secondary 1 students learning by guided inquiry-based learning between pre-test and post-test; 3) compare the math problem solving skills for secondary 1 students between students learning by guided inquiry-based learning and normal learning; and 4) compare the math learning achievement for secondary 1 students between students learning by guided inquiry-based learning and normal learning. The sample group consisted of secondary 1 students studying at Chanthaburi College of Dramatic Arts during the second semester of academic year 2022. The experimental group and the control group were selected by simple random sampling and used the classroom as a unit. The experimental and control groups consisted of 30 students and 31 students, respectively. The research instruments were: the lesson plans using guided inquiry-based learning of ratios, proportions and percentages, mathematical problem solving skills test and achievement test. The statistics used for analyzing the data were: mean, standard deviation, t-test and one-way ANCOVA.
