Development of a CS Unplugged Activity Package with Problem-based Learning Management to Enhance Problem-solving Skills in Computing Science for Primary 5 Students
The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop a CS unplugged activity package with problem-based learning management to meet the efficiency criterion of 80/80, 2) compare students’ problem-solving skills before and after learning with the activity package, and 3) compare students’ learning achievement scores before and after learning with the activity package. The sample used in the research was a group of 31 primary 5 students in Chumchon Nikhom Sang Ton Eng School in Rayong Province in semester 1 of the academic year 2022, and was selected by simple random sampling. The research instruments were: 1) a CS unplugged activity package with problem-based learning management, 2) learning management plans, 3) a problem-solving skills test, and 4) a learning achievement test. The statistics used for data analysis were: percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The results of this research were as follows: 1) the effectiveness of the CS unplugged activity package with problem-based learning management was 80.32/83.01, which was higher than the required criterion, 2) the students learning with the activity package had higher problem-solving skills after learning than before at the statistically significant level of .05, and 3) the students learning with the activity package had higher learning achievement scores after learning than before at the statistically significant level of .05.
