Housing governance for sustainable livelihood of the elderly in an age-friendly community : a case study of Camillian Social Center in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Community, Chanthaburi
This dissertation’s objectives were to study the performance of a service system and factors af-fecting housing governance for the elderly at Camillian Social Centre, Chanthaburi Province and to propose a model for housing governance for sustainable livelihood of the elderly in an age-friendly community in the context of Thai culture. Transdisciplinary research methodology was used both in the quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research techniques employed were documentary research, survey research, interviews of Camellian personnel and elderly people who come to receive services, observations, and lessons learned. 37 elderly people who come to receive services responded to the survey.
The results showed the performance when considering the services that the elderly had a high level of satisfaction with the services. The satisfaction was the result of service speed, ser-vice advancement, fairness, service continuity, and resource sufficiency. The important factors affecting housing governance were the context of age-friendly community, cultural capital, social capital, metagovernance, service system and social enterprise model, respectively. In addition, the model of housing governance applied in accordance with the Thai culture should be consid-ered from the context of age-friendly community, social capital, Buddhist style metagovernance, standardized service system, and social enterprise model.
