21st Century Administrative Skills of School Administrators According to the Opinions of Public School Teachers under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office
Educational reform in Thailand under dynamic changing situation focuses on life-long learning for learners through an efficient educational management process coupled with the utilization of appropriate information technology. Enhancing high quality standards in education requires various skills of school administrators to lead the organization to sustainable progress. The research aimed to study and compare 21st century administrative skills of school administrators according to the opinions of public school teachers under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, classified by gender, working experience and school size. The sample in this research was a group of 324 public school teachers under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, and was determined by Krejcie and Morgan’s comparison table and proportional stratified random sampling method. The instrument for data collection was a five-rating scale constructed questionnaire about 21st century administrative skills of school administrators with a discrimination power between 0.47 and 0.96, attached to its reliability of 0.97. The data were analyzed by using: percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance.
The results showed that: 1) 21st century administrative skills of school administrators under
Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office overall reached the high level, 2) the comparison of 21st century administrative skills of school administrators under Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, when classified by gender and school size, overall was statistically different at the .05 level of significance. When classified by working experience, it overall had no statistically significant difference. School administrators and concerned sectors can adopt this research as a guideline to encourage administrative skills of basic school administrators by accepting individual differences, working with integrity, emphasizing on life-long learning and developing social networks for a changing society in Thailand.
