The purposes of this research were: 1) to evaluate the effectiveness of educational games in meeting the 80/80 criteria; 2) to compare the results of Chinese Pinyin oral reading before and after using the educational games with phonics instruction to enhance Chinese Pinyin oral reading for secondary 1 students; and 3) to examine students attitudes toward learning Chinese. The sample consisted of 30 secondary 1 students from Khlung Ratchadapisek School, selected through purposive sampling in the first semester of the 2022 academic year. The instruments used included: 1) eight educational games with phonics instruction, such as “Where is my partner?”, “XO,” “Fishing to find a sound,” “Testing your luck,” “Hold up the word and pronounce,” “Rock Paper Scissors reading,” “Decipher the Pinyin code,” and “Throw the ball to choose the word,”; 2) lesson plans; 3) Chinese phonetic alphabet oral reading tests; and 4) an attitude test. Data analysis employed: mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
