A Comparison of Problem Solving Ability and Learning Achievement in Motion and Force between Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
The purposes of this research were : 1) to compare the problem solving ability in motion and force of Mathayomsuksa 5 students before and after using inquiry based learning (5E), 2) to compare the problem solving ability in motion and force of Mathayomsuksa 5 students before and after using problem based learning (PBL), 3) to compare the problem solving ability in motion and force of Mathayomsuksa 5 students between the group using inquiry based learning (5E) and problem based learning (PBL), and 4) to compare the learning achievement in motion and force of Mathayomsuksa 5 students between the group using inquiry based learning (5E) and problem based learning (PBL). The samples were Mathayomsuksa 5 students in the 1st semester of the academic year 2020 at Watpapradoo School, Rayong Province. The samples were two groups of students from 2 classrooms, 40 students each selected by purposive sampling. Then simple random sampling was used to select a classroom to enter experimental group 1 and experimental group 2. The research instruments were: lesson plans based on inquiry based learning (5E), lesson plans based on problem based learning (PBL), the problem solving ability test which had a reliability of 0.84 and the learning achievement test which had a reliability of 0.83. The data were analyzed by: mean, standard deviation and t-test.
