The purposes of this research were: 1) to investigate the level of knowledge about and attitude toward the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Klongyai District, Trat Province, 2) to compare the levels knowledge and attitudes and classify them by basic demographic factors. The mixed methods approaches of quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. The sample group of 390 residents was selected from a group of 15,511 qualified voters in the district. In-depth interviews were conducted for the qualitative portion of the research.
The findings of the research were as follows: 1) there is a low level of knowledge about the SEZ among the residents, 2) the attitude of the residents toward the SEZ was at the level of somewhat agree. The comparison of level of knowledge about the SEZ, when classified by basic demographic data, showed that it was influenced by age, occupation, education and level of income. The comparison of attitudes toward the SEZ, when classified by basic demographic data, showed that it was influenced by occupation and education.
