The purposes of this research were to study the affecting factors and compare the public participation in the local development in Tha Luang Sub-district Municipality in Makham District in Chanthaburi. The survey research was applied to this study. The research populations determined by the two-stage cluster sampling method were the 332 qualified voters.
The descriptive statistics and the qualitative research approach of the in-depth interviews and the participatory observation were used as the research instruments. The results were found that the levels of public participation in the local development were shown at the high level.
The influential factors were the advantages of the participation, the influence of the leaders, the connection to the community, and the strength of the social networking. The factors of different ages showed the .05 level of statistical significance.
