This dissertation aimed to study the identity and identity changes of
the Chong ethnic group and present a model for the reproduction of the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group in Khao Khitchakut District, Chanthaburi Province. The methodology used an interdisciplinary study that crossed fields using qualitative research methods based on cultural studies, a method of studying both primary and secondary documents, including historical interviews from hearsay and in-depth interviews.The research found that the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group was
based on a culture with a holistic way of life covering social, economic, and political aspects. It was based on having their language, and their belief was based on the system of worshiping spirits since ancient times. Changing the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group was a result of factors related to the expansion of the capitalist system into the community, the expansion of the modern bureaucracy, and the spread of modern culture from the city. This research presented a model for the reproduction of the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group to counter the current change in the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group which has been a radical change that has created a crisis in the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic
group, and there was a tendency toward the decay of the cultural identity of the Chong ethnic group. Necessary strategic measures have been proposed: reviving the native Chong language, spreading Chong culture, organizing travel to learn about the Chong ethnic group, and rehabilitating herbs and health care of the Chong ethnic group.
