This research aimed to study the learning processes and sustainable
development according to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in the agroforestry
community located in Pawa Sub- district, Kaeng Hang Maeo District, Chanthaburi
Province and to propose and apply a proper model according to the Sufficiency
Economy Philosophy for sustainable development. The research approaches used in
this study included the qualitative research methodology which was based on the case
study and lessons- learned method. The data collection techniques consisted of
documentary research, oral history, in-depth interviews, and small group interviews.
The research findings revealed that the learning processes resulted in the sustainable
development of the Pawa Agroforestry Community by organizing the Boon Plong
Khuen Thin Festival, the Aran Piyawong Forest Park, the Agroforestry Way, the Satja
Saving Group, the Local Cooperative Store, local product manufacturing, and
community engagement exchange. The values learned from the projects and activities
included: harmony in the community, income increase and cost reduction, as well as
environmental conservation. The appropriate driven model used to strengthen the
Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in the Pawa Agroforestry Community should be
changed from the former model which focused on community knowledge, local
resources, and community management to the local participatory mechanism and
process as well as more social networking due to the problems of capitalism and
globalization facing the Pawa Agroforestry Community nowadays.
