Roles of buddhist monastery as community is public space : case study of wat phai lom (the royal temple) In Chanthanimit Sub-district Muang District Chanthaburi Province
The purpose of this research was to study the public recognition and expectation of the Buddhist Monastery is roles as the community is public space. Wat Phai Lom (the Royal Temple) in Chanthanimit Sub-district, Muang District in Chanthaburi was examined in this study. The mixed method model of the qualitative and quantitative survey research was applied to this study. The research populations were the 400 people with over 15 years of age living in the area of Wat Phai Lom (the Royal Temple) in Chanthanimit Sub-district. The qualitative research method of the in-depth interviews with the key informants was used in this study. The major findings identified the moderate levels of people is recognition in the temple roles. This resulted from the frequency of participation in the temple is activities and the information publication done by the temple. The results also showed the moderate levels of people is expectation of the temple roles. This resulted from the people recognition levels and the effectiveness of the information publication in the community performed by the temple
